Please do not broadcast your program or make speeches into your phone, no matter how good your audio is. Be considerate. Anything you play on your phone is designed to grab the attention of people that are busy doing things that are far more important than you are. Are you living like Jesus if you … a) refuse to use earbuds or a headset to listen to sports, different music, or other programs in public a) complain that they do not like your music when you do that and someone asks you to stop b) pretend that you do not know English when someone asks you to stop c) threaten someone because they did not provide you with the respect you demand d) work only the required amount to be paid today, but vote to have owners forced to pay your price e) rush to get home (to watch TV, sports …) faster than you get ready for work in the morning. f) take up two parking spots in a small parking lot because you got there first. g) Would you greet someone at church in a stentorian manner with "Well, look who made it here!" h) (Your suggestion here) Consider the application of the label 'lazy' for people that are not considered to be minorities, especially in the professions where you may have been affirmatively acted against all your life (family, school, and then career since the 1980's, or maybe the 1960’s for some). The idea is ‘they just need to work harder because ancestors of some people were targeted.’ Imagine centuries ago (before 1869, the Emancipation Proclamation) when the distant ancestors of some of the currently approved minorities were discrimated against on a more hideous scale, sometimes by their own people (who did the initial sale of slaves?). The point is that it became "knowledge" that they were lazy “because” after emancipation, people under the influence of evil cited their lack of accomplishment as proof of laziness. That is happening again at reduced Hideous Strength (C. S. Lewis). Far less than half of the pink-skinned people had ancestors of that discriminating evil class, due to immigration (massive but less than ours now in the 2020’s) of mostly pink people at the turn of the century, a century ago. Many of the productive professions have seen the most drastic decrease in standard of living (stagnation in professional income over 50 years, specialty fields pay the same non-inflated rates as in the late 1980’s). At the same time the pink people are told to step aside, to be affirmatively acted against because of the color of their pink skin. Their lack of applications for promotion and tendency to check out of the dating scene is taken as laziness. Was this similar at a more Hideous Strength in the early 1900s for the currently accepted minorities and Asians? Should the affirmatively acted against have an obligation to not check out, to gamble against the house? Is it honorable to check out of society, if you can, when your labor is stolen, where the rug is pulled out from under the over-advertised standard of living? The other side of that issue is that there are examples of affirmative action helping to stop office politics, as discussed below. How can following Jesus ameliorate the hate and stop the cycle? If only the victims follow and not the vanquishers? 2000 years ago the answer was yes. Has evil learned to keep their useful slaves from enlightenment? Worse, imagine the statistics, which were not well-known at the time. In the 21st century it is well-known that even the best gambler will lose against the house. It only takes a small advantage for the house to rake in consistent profits from gamblers, in the long run. This is unfortunately not what the social activists consider or perhaps even realize. They understand something was amiss for their grandparents, but they did not usually have the statistics to put it into words. Now most of the targets of the new discrimination have had their careers set back, mostly the targets were/are people that are not good looking or have inherited wealth. Worse, due to the legal immigration in the 1900-1930 period, the majority of pink people have few ancestors that were guilty for the burden they (the workers) have forced upon them in the 21st century. Riots and murders are fewer, only about 30 in the summer of 2022. The cycle will probably continue at moderated strength. However, this extends the cessation of discrimination out another many decades. Strange that very little is said about a flight to the suburbs at this time. Does the media have more control, or do they cherish that control more, or is something else afoot? Stranger still is the concept of "revenue sharing" that was a mandatory topic in the 1980s civics courses at all secular universities. What did it do? What was it like without it? If we remove any premium whatsoever for advanced education/experience/ability will such a system "of love" survive? Is it the responsibility of the people to try harder for more pay, or less [b], to give all that premium away to moochers in the hope that they will see the light, that instead of receiving for free they should work for their own, and then give all of their premium away? What do the classical religious books say about innocent hard workers - how hard must they work? It is now well-known that most careers that pay a premium take a health toll on the worker. Is the worker responsible to literally work them selves to death because they have the ability to do the harder work? At the same time, when brutal voices gather in groups to exclude a person’s labor and the only defense they have is to claim the privilege of affirmative action – are they justified? I think so. I have seen office bullies put down with such complaints. And the bullies may shout and worse, try to make the person take back their complaint. Never take it back – that would be worse than submission to the bullies. If more than one person joins forces to unfairly steal your labor, feel free to use affirmative action. However, understand that those not in a protected group have no such defense against bullies. Both sides of this chasm must work better. Feel free to add to the list of issues for living like Jesus, or to tell us why any of them are not correct. _________ for reference [a] For 2020, thousands: “Major City Chiefs Association (MCCA) issued “Report on the 2020 Protests & Civil Unrest.” This report looked at unrest in the 68 largest municipal and county jurisdictions in the United States and Canada from May 25, 2020 to July 31, 2020. MCCA members say they experienced 8,700 total protest events during that roughly two-month period. One city, unidentified but likely Portland, reported 1,100 protest events during that period. The average number of protest events in a single jurisdiction was 128…” https://www.policemag.com/patrol/article/15310543/after-action-reports-on-the-riots-of-2020 [b] In spite of good books like this (Sold Out), the lower pay is not due to paying a lower "going rate." That is illegal. It is that for 6 years (two positions within 6 years) the H1B program ties that employment to the visa. If you demand a raise, "there's the door." Stagnating salaries in 6-year increments has kept premium rates for contract engineers at approximately the same rate as they were in non-adjusted dollars in 1987. (For many years GM paid Finite Element Analysis structural engineers $55/hour until 1989 aerospace layoffs in the thousands, when they dropped it to $38/hour.) [c] Where in the Bible, Torah, Qu'ran, Veda, ... is there a story about not pestering or begging for goodies from a hard worker? There are admonitions to "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's" but not to let hard workers have any premium without requiring them to give all of it or more away to people that do not save or scrimp on expenses. This is why communes fail. People realize they are worse off if they work harder. Please let me know where the good word speaks with allowance for families to save money without having to give it away before their children need it. Thank you for any assistance you can provide that helps hard workers that are temporarily making a premium. They already pay far more in taxes. Are we allowed to have a family? It seems that you can only have a right to a family if you give it all up, at which point you are better off not going to college or working hard. Get an 'on-duty' job where you are not thinking about work (strategy or algorithm puzzles either) when you go home. When the system allows a premium, all boats will rise. Only Ayn Rand promotes this, even if she was wrongly atheistic. Signing off. As the battle against honest, hard-working fatherhood continues, this is my meager, hard-fought contribution.
